Updates and House News

Well we are FINALLY under contract for our house!! So let the good times roll! Now instead of waiting for the bank to get back to us comes the waiting game for repair/inspectors. So my plan is, to bring cleaning supplies with me every time I go up to our house and work on cleaning up one room at a time while I wait for people to show up! That way, instead of wasting my day waiting at the house for someone to show up between the hours of "such and such to whenever I decide to grace you with my presence" I will actually be getting something that desperately needs to be done off my list!

And just in case that isn't exciting enough, Eric is learning how to walk!! But for now it's time to go take care of my adorable son, so I will leave you with this picture!!

And the list continues...

Have you ever had a million papers of ideas, lists, things to do, good to know information that you thought you put in a safe location? Only to find out that you're "safe" location got raided by a little munchkin you love more then life?? If not, this is my life now that we've been blessed with a happy, healthy little boy named Eric.

Enter www.pintrest.com this WONDERFUL site has save my sanity in more then one way these past few months. Not only do I have a place to keep track of all things home repair, decor ideas, future crafts, things to do with little munchkins, and who knows what else, but I also have a place that Eric absolutely CAN'T destroy! Talk about a time/money/sanity saver!!

With the house we are in the process of buying in much need of some serious TLC (I'll post some pictures so you guys can see what I mean when we go tomorrow night), I've loved being able to go on pintrest, find the ideas of what I'm going to do with our home and not have to deal with remembering where I put them! Or wondering if there is a safe place in my home to store them until they become useful that my son won't find and terrorize (ps. there's no where in this home my son can't get, no matter how much I baby proof...). It's also been a great way to find ideas on how to make a home amazing without spending my life savings! IE, instead of ripping out all the tiles on the shower walls that are a horrible mis-matched disaster and then dealing with repairs, new walls, and all the mess that goes with it, just paint it with an epoxy paint! Umm hello! Why did I not think about that!! Especially since my current bathroom has painted tiles!! Talk about major time money saver! Big idea #2, instead of going and buying another vanity that is made out of particle board just make one, and here's the plans to go with it! Custom wood vanity anyone??

So now, my only huge room to tackle becomes the kitchen. Don't get me wrong I love the kitchen, but I'm not such a big fan of broken drawer tracks, water damaged wood, blue counters, and no oven/fridge/dishwasher... So enter hard work, big messes and the dreams of a working kitchen. But as far as doing anything in the kitchen goes, it will just have to wait until after OK so we have a chance to save up some more of money to do it, and do it right. Thankfully I've been blessed with amazing family and friends who know how to tear out and rebuild kitchens, including installing/mounting all the cabinets. So the money will get to be spent on either wood to build the cabinets or buying in-stock cabinets, stain, paint, and counter tops. Which means I will still have to budget a lot to get what I want, but I will also be able to save a lot on labor costs!

With all that has been going right with this house, I can't even begin to tell you the peace that I feel. Or the ultimate joy of knowing that this is mine. And as long as I'm responsible, no one can take it from me.

Taking a deeeeeep breath...

The house hunting may be at an end!! WOOT!!! The Bank counter offered and raised us $2,500. However, it's still way less then we had planned on spending. Can I just tell you how good it feels to know that, assuming the inspectors don't find anything out of control, we have a home! We have a place to call our own! I'll get to have a dishwasher, a garbage disposal, and a washer/dryer!! Some where I can do what I want, somewhere our little family can continue to grow! I'm so excited to know that we are going where we are meant to be, and that I will be able to have some where to constructively put my energy while Matt is gone.

House Hunting

I have to admit I'm starting to love this house hunting thing more and more. I love that I will soon get a place that is all mine. Where I can choose the colors and not have to worry if anyone else will approve of them. Yes Matt will have a say, but I finally get to have my red kitchen, with red walls and not have to hear from anyone about how hard red paint is to cover up (which it's actually not that bad if you use the right paint, Laytex paints cover it right up without a problem!). And I get to choose if I have the walls carry the colors and the furniture carry the neutrals, or visa-versa. I actually get to go furniture shopping!! And not just window shopping! Granted there will probably be a lot of that before I actually buy any, but there will actually be a purpose to it! For the most part though, I'm just looking forward to not feeling so cramped at home. Which has given me a bit of a throw it out attitude lately. Matt has decided that he has final say though, which is fine.  But anything he opts to keep that I opt to chuck, he has to find a place for in whatever house we end up in.

So far the hunt has led us to this house in Pleasant Grove. It's really close to state street, and easy to get to from the freeway, AND it's really hard to get lost going to. Which is a HUGE bonus for me. Because, as Matt will very willingly tell you, I get lost in the blink of an eye.

Of the houses I've found online and ones we've driven past, and the two that we've been to. This is the only house that has made the cut.

But we're hoping that Greg (our realtor) is able to find a few more houses for us to look at. Even if all they do is just confirm the feelings that Matt and I are already having.Because in the end, It's really not even up to us, we both just hope that when the time comes to decide we completely listen to the promptings we are given and don't look back.

As a funny side note, when signed up for my paypal account it automatically signed me up for a paypal credit card. Which I've been trying unsuccessfully to get rid of. Well it turns out because I haven't been able to get rid of the dang thing, it actually helped my credit and gave me a really good score!! Who knew having a credit I've never used, or wanted, could be so helpful as we look at moving on to the next chapter in our lives.

SAHM...

As some of you know I was able to quit working at Heindselman's after about 9 years of being there. I have some very mixed feelings about it. I've enjoyed being an SAHM and being able to actually get things down around my home. But I do admit, I miss all the adult conversation. However, with everything that is going on in our little family being home has been wonderful. Matt has been working full time, going to school, getting mounds of paperwork done and trying hard to be the best dad in the world :). I've been working on getting sewing done for Matt's company, cleaning, house hunting, finishing up projects and just enjoying having days at home. Eric is getting to be even more mobile then ever and is slowly working on walking, and getting into anything and everything he can get his hands on. And on top of all of this, Matt has been sick for the last two weeks and has developed a dbl ear infection, on top of his sinus infection. Thankfully he's finally doing something about it...

And yet, not matter how busy we get, I love that Matt always makes time for Eric and I. Now that Matt and I no longer work on Saturdays, I've loved being able to actually have time as a family. Before it was always hit and miss. Especially with Matt's company. Business has been great for him, but there are days when I'm jealous of all the time he spends working between his 3 jobs and school. But I know he's only doing it for Eric and me, so I can't even get upset about it. If anything I'm grateful for all that he does because it's given us the opportunity to even be looking into getting a house. I just wish everything he did, didn't take so much time... I have to admit though, in some ways I'm looking forward to going to OK in Oct for a few months, because there he will only have one job and hopefully more time for us to just enjoy being a family. (Granted with it being army training, I don't really know if it'll work like the typical 9-5 job, but I can hope!!) When we come back from OK is still in the air... and a questions that won't be answered until January.

But for now, while Eric is asleep I'm going to go enjoy the peace and quite of the moment. . . nvm the little prince just woke up :)
